The Committee on Resident Deaths (CORD) was established by directive of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) in 1985. CORD is an advisory body that reviews all deaths of individuals who are patients or residents at DCTS facilities. Based upon that review, CORD informs the DCTS administrator and facility directors of any issues or concerns
regarding a patient or resident’s death, and further makes recommendations with regard to improving the quality of care at the facility.
