9:45 AM          Introduction and Updates

            Jamie Kuhn, DHS, Medicaid Director, Administrator, Division of Medicaid Services

Director Kuhn will introduce herself to the MAC and will share her perspectives on working with the MAC going forward. In addition, Director Kuhn will provide some just in time updates on selected activities of the Division.

                       

 

10:00 AM        “Access 101”

MAC discussion for 2023 will center on access and utilization, topics that are intentionally broad and cross-cutting. Prior to beginning an exploration of opportunities to improve access and utilization, Division staff will provide a high-level overview of the multiple factors encompassed in the topic of “access,” from awareness to eligibility, enrollment to engagement, and provider and service utilization. The intent of this presentation is to provide sufficient context for subsequent group dialogue.

10:40 AM        MAC Identification of Access Issues of Relevance

The Medicaid Advisory Committee will be exploring issues related to the topic of access throughout 2023. The purpose of this discussion is to solicit from MAC members items related to access that could benefit from further exploration. These insights, combined with timely or pressing questions from Medicaid staff, will inform the agenda for the remainder of the calendar year. Dr. Gunn will facilitate discussion on potential topics of interest related to access, seeking to hear input from all MAC members.

           

11:10 AM        Receive Public Comment on Access 101 Discussion and Identification of Potential Access-Related Topics for Future Exploration.

Due to time considerations, oral testimony will be limited to three (3) minutes per person. Your microphone will be muted after three (3) minutes. The purpose of this meeting is to conduct the governmental business outlined in the above agenda.  The purpose of the Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) is to advise the Medicaid agency on key initiatives that affect Medicaid program administration, policy or services. The MAC provides feedback on specific policies, initiatives and proposed program changes brought forward by the Division of Medicaid Services (DMS). The MAC is governed under 42 CFR 431.12. Committee members include Medicaid enrollees and caregivers of enrollees, health care providers who are familiar with the medical needs of low-income population groups and with the resources available and required for their care, consumer advocates, and the director of the public welfare department or the public health department. The MAC shall act as a liaison for individuals, organizations, and institutions that receive, facilitate or provide Medicaid services. Meetings are open to the public who may offer public comment.
