BUREAU OF APPRENTICSHIP STANDARDS La Crosse Area Carpenters JAC Carpenters Local 1143 2421 Larson St La Crosse, WI 54603 Monday, March 16, 2020 4:00 p.m. TENTATIVE AGENDA 1. Call to Order 2. Roll Call 3. Reading and approval of December 16, 2020 meeting minutes 4. Adjourn to Closed Session a. Letter of Introduction b. New Indentures c. Transfers/Re-Assignments/Completions d. Apprentice Reviews e. One Year Reviews 5. Resume Open Session a. Applicant Test (YTD): 0 6. Old Business a. First Aid/CPR/AED: Lisa reported that currently the Standards allows the Apprentice to take First Aid/CPR/AED within the first 24 months of their Apprenticeship. JAC discussed making the requirement within the first 12 months of their Apprenticeship being safety is a top priority. A motion was made and passed to adopt the requirement that Apprentices take First Aid/CPR/AED within the first 12 months of their Apprenticeship. This update will be included in the updated Standards. b. BAS Report: Milton reported that Joshua Johnson has been announced as the new Director for the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards. He also stated that the La Crosse position for (ATR) should be posted soon and they hope to have the position filled by the beginning of February 2020. c. Updated Standards: Lisa presented the previously distributed updated Standards. She explained that the Standards needed to be updated into the Federal format to meet UB International requirements. The recently passed requirement for Apprentices to take First Aid/CPR/AED within the first 12 months of their Apprenticeship Contract is included. A motion was made and seconded to approve to adapt the updated Standards. Pat Rodriquez, Labor, and Brian Wrobel, Management, signed the document indicating the approval of the updated Standards. The Standards were submitted to Milton Rogers, ATR, to be submitted to Madison Administrative Office for Approval. 7. New Business a. OSHA 30: Discussion regarding adding OSHA 30 (30 hours) to the curriculum, making Safety Week into 2 weeks. Concern regarding the lack of industry need for OSHA 30 amounted to the JAC deciding to table the topic until March JAC meeting. Committee will review the exact curriculum that will be added and the theory behind the need. b. Policies and Procedures Update 8. Other Business a. Affirmative Action b.
