  1. Call to order and meeting process
  2. Welcome and introductions
  3. Review of rule revision process and statement of scope
  4. Topics for discussion:

Generally applicable to ch. DHS 157

    1. DHS 157.03(417) weighting factors.
    2. Defining terms such as “annual”, “semi-annual” and “quarterly” in DHS 157.
    3. DHS 157.88 (1) (c) posting of violations.

Applicable to radiation producing machines

    1. DHS 157.83(1) written directives for external beam radiation therapy.
    2. Permitting facilities with Institutional Review Boards (IRB) to approve research projects under DHS 157.74 (2) (f) 2.
    3. DHS 157.74(e) gonadal shielding requirement.
    4. Requirements for cabinet and analytical x-ray systems under DHS 157.87.
    5. Thyroid shielding use during dental intra oral radiography.
    6. X-ray unit testing every 2 years by a physicist or their designee.

Applicable to radioactive materials

    1. Dose based criteria for permanent implant brachytherapy medical event reporting.
    2. Sealed source leak test requirements in DHS 157.24 and DHS 157.62(5).
    1. Basing financial assurance requirements under DHS 157.15 (4) (a) on radioactive materials half-life.
  2. Additional topics for discussion identified by advisory group members
  3. Adjourn

The purpose of this meeting is to conduct the governmental business outlined in the above agenda. The DHS 157 Advisory Committee was established to provide stakeholder input to changes the Department intends to propose to ch. DHS 157 relating to radiation producing machines and radioactive materials.
